Shrimp and Crab Gumbo 2
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 large can whole tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1/8 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon parsley, chopped
1 medium bag of shrimp
1 large onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/2 pound okra, washed and sliced
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon thyme
1 bay leaf, crushed
1 can crabmeat
Directions:
- Heat butter in a large skillet. Add chopped onion and chopped bell pepper. Add chopped celery and garlic. Cook all until onion is soft.
- Add okra, can of tomatoes, water, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, chili powder, thyme, parsley and bay leaf. Let all simmer until okra is done. Taste and correct seasonings if necessary.
- Add shrimp and crab meat. Cook until shrimps turn pink. Serve over cooked rice.
